POEM BY BELISARIO RIGHI

The Pelourinho - Salvador - Bahia

BAHIA

In the coolness of the mangrove, feet moistened by the surf of the river, behind the scrolls of a soft havana and between the greedily spent sips of a caipirinha, the noon of my Bahian days I spent. All this concerned me, over there in the southern world, and nothing touched my senses, if not, of this calm, the uncontaminated beauty.
